In January 2009 we’ll see the American car industry wheeze out of its rocking chair and stagger forlornly to the North American Auto Show in Detroit. Let’s face it, the Big Three need to impress, and prove they’re still relevant as the world – newly carbon-aware and in the midst of an economic downturn – looks on. So what is Chevrolet whipping the sparkly sheets off?
This 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX rally car is featured on Bring a Trailer this morning, and it brings us right back to our rambunctious high school years. Sure, we didn't get our licenses until 1996, but that was the perfect time to find something a few years old--preferably with a turbocharger and a manual transmission—and hoon it to death. But while there were several Eclipses floating around our group of friends, none was as built as this car.
Nissan lets us in on its Tokyo motor show plans on Thursday. The company will bring a handful of new and wild concept cars to the show, along with some old favorites like the GT-R and 370Z. The highlight of Nissan’s stand will be the BladeGlider concept, which looks like a cross between the BMW i8 and the DeltaWing race car.
